The tour includes farm stands, micro-farms, goat dairies, orchards, and ranches, all with ruggedly beautiful Blue Mountains and Wallowa Mountains as backdrops. Where Is the Grande Ronde Farm Trail?
The Grande Ronde Farm Trail is nestled entirely within Union County, Oregon, stretching from the stunning Blue Mountains to the edge of the Eagle Cap Wilderness—the only bowl-shaped mountain range in the region!
At the heart of the trail is La Grande, the largest community along the route. You'll also wind your way through the charming towns of Union, Cove, Imbler, Elgin, Summerville, and North Powder, each offering its own slice of Eastern Oregon’s agricultural heritage.
The trail forms a scenic loop that begins and ends in La Grande, taking you on a journey through rolling fields, quiet country roads (yes, some gravel!), and wide-open spaces. Keep your eyes out for breathtaking views—and maybe even a curious deer or two crossing your path.
What Can You Do Along the Grande Ronde Farm Trail?
Agriculture connects us with the food and beverages we love so much- so get a feel for how it all begins at working farms along the trail
- Apple Spring Farms offers an organic and interactive experience. Selling vegetables, flowers, fruits and berries, and delicious baked goods made everyday. Pet an alpaca or maybe even pick up a dozen eggs from their happy hens. Call for the latest updates on what is available from our gardens, and what the treat of the day is.
- Bunchgrass Land & Livestock is a working cattle ranch demonstrates how agriculture can coexist and benefit from good fishery habitat and functional ecosystem. Tours of the restoration projects are available and can be scheduled in advance via email (andrea@holisticmanagement.guide).
- Union County Museum has lots about the rich agriculture history with the Cowboys Then & Now Exhibit, as well as their Agriculture, Transportation & Timber building of exhibits. Immerse yourself in the history of the Grande Ronde Valley.
- Ladd View Ranch is a Babydoll Southdown sheep farm! Call and schedule a tour to experience how these sheep are managed to enhance the ecology of the orchard, pond, stream, and woodland areas and meet thes "woolly teddy bears." You can see lambs mid-February through May.
